Papdi chaat is a traditional street food found all over Pakistan and
some other Asian countries. Papdis are crispy chips shape made from simple dough. Traditionally,
you find the papris buried under fluffy boiled potatoes, boiled chickpeas,
yogurt, mint chutney, tamarind chutney, and some chaat masala which are the
ingredients featured in this recipe.
Ingredients:
For Papdi Dough
- All-purpose
flour 1 cup
- Salt pinch
- Carom seeds ¼
tsp
- Oil 1tbsp
- Water as
required
For Assembling
- Boiled
potatoes 1 cup
- Boiled white
chickpeas 1 cup
- Chopped
onion ½ cup
- Chopped
tomatoes as required
- Green chilies
as required
- Yogurt 1/3
cup
- Chaat masala
½ tsp
- Mint chutney
as required
- Tamarind
Chutney as required
Method:
Take a large bowl, add all-purpose flour, salt, carom seeds, oil, and water knead in the bowl until the dough comes together into a smooth dough, and leave for 10 minutes.
On a lightly floured work surface, roll out the dough until it is thick. Using a fork, prick all over the surface of the dough.
Cut shapes as per your choice and set them aside on a floured surface. Gathered and re-rolled until you have no more dough left.
In a frying pan, heat the oil and fry papdis till crispy and golden color comes.
On a serving plate, add papdis in a single even layer.
Add boiled potatoes, boiled chickpeas, chopped onion, chopped tomatoes, chopped green chilies, yogurt, chaat masala, mint chutney, and tamarind chutney on top.
Enjoy and serve right away.
